PLYMOUTH DEVILS 41 RYE HOUSE 51

PLYMOUTH Devils returned to action in a keenly contested League Cup match against Rye House at the St Boniface Arena on Friday evening.

Although the Devils were beaten 51-41, there were only six points separating the sides as they went into the final three heats.

For some of the Plymouth riders it was their first meeting in a month, following the club’s temporary closure, and it showed as they were not as sharp as the visitors out of the starts.

Co-promoter Ashley Taylor admitted: “In the circumstances the result was to be expected. Rye House have some small track specialists in their team and they helped provide us with some good, competitive racing.

“At least our riders now know what they have to do and it is a case of sharpening up a bit with more track time.”

Jack Holder had a productive meeting for the Devils with a couple of race wins, including a six-point tactical ride in his fourth outing as he finished with 14 (paid 15) points from five rides.

Rye House number one Edward Kennett was in a class of his own, however, with a 15-point maximum.
