SB OAK Villa bounced back from their Devon Premier Cup final defeat in style by beating Teignmouth 5-0 on Tuesday night to win the Devon League Cup South & West area final at Tavistock’s Langsford Park.

Devon League side Oak Villa had been beaten 10-0 in the Premier Cup final on Friday evening by South West Premier League leaders Torquay United, who are likely to be playing in the FA Women’s National League next season.

But Oak Villa shrugged that defeat off and showed their class against their league rivals Teignmouth.

They took the lead in Tuesday’s cup final after less than two minutes when Jade Packer produced a powerful header from a Kelsey Blight corner.

And it got better for them on 26 minutes when the experienced Rachel Finch produced a fine long-range lob to make it 2-0.

Blight then produced a fine long-range strike just before half-time to make it 3-0.

Midway through the second half Amy Pridham netted Oak Villa’s fourth before Mia Dulling added their fifth in injury-time.

AFC Tavistock did lend Oak Villa some blue shirts after both they and Teignmouth turned up in red. However, the Oak Villa team did switch to their own kit for the trophy presentation.

They will now meet north and east regional cup winners Crediton in the overall Devon League Cup final at Coach Road on Thursday, May 28.

However, Oak Villa’s Devon Premier League title hopes have gone after Plympton wrapped up the title on Sunday by beating Bradworthy 6-0 away thanks to goals from Bella Brown-Tunnell (2), Lois Igalawuye (2), Crystal-Mae Pollock and Libby Williams.

In Devon South & West just two points now separate the top three sides.

Second-placed Plymouth Marjon will be favourites as they have games in hand on all their rivals, but third-placed Horrabridge Rangers are pushing them hard.

Marjon beat Elm United 6-1 on Sunday, but Horrabridge overcame Tavistock 7-0 at the weekend and Lakeside Athletic 13-0 on Wednesday.
