PLYMPTON’S Newnham Park played host to the second round of the Soggy Bottom mountain bike series at the weekend.
Riders were treated to glorious sunshine and unusually high autumn temperatures, which suited Magspeed Racing’s David Beskeen, who won the expert/elite race by nearly a minute.
Second place went to Louis Bronstein, with Max Suttie third, Pete Hawkins fourth, Luke Eggar fifth and Richard Long sixth.
Victoria Sigma’s Heidi Gould was first expert/elite female, with Daisy Peters taking the fun female prize. Ashley Whelan was first fun male.
Southfork’s Max Standen had a good weekend. He won the short course event on Saturday and was first juvenile male on Sunday.
Team-mate Ed Walsh was first sport male, while Johnathan Dominguez finished as first grand vet male.
The super vet male and female titles went to Mark Harkwicke and Kim Long, while Lee Hayward and Sally Godber were the normal vet categories winners.
Meribel Hudson and Oliver Murphy were the youth winners, Isla Peters and Matthew Holmes claimed victories in the under-12 category, James Allen and Willow Peters won the under-10 age group and Macsen Harris and Ruby Loake were first in the under-eight section.
This year the Soggy Bottom Series is also included ebike races and Sian Standen and Harry Smith won the female and male categories.
