GALLERY: Long and Hooper set the pace in hot conditions at Mount Edgcumbe

RICHARD LONG and Sharn Hooper led the way at the final South West MTB XC Series event of the season at Mount Edgcumbe on Sunday.

In hot conditions, Long took victory in the expert male category, finishing more than two minutes ahead of Plymouth Corinthian’s Alex Damson on the tricky course.

Fellow Plymouth Corinthian rider Stephen Hodge was first elite male.

Hooper was first elite female, finishing ahead of Helen Barron.

Mid-Devon’s Tristan Davies produced a good performance to dominate the junior male category. Plymouth Pilgrims’ Oliver Allen was second in that category.

Oliver Murphy was first juvenile male, with Dartmoor’s Jack Cann second, while Meribel Hudson was first juvenile female.

Rosie Andrews was the runaway winner of the youth female category, with Pilgrims’ Jack Southcott first youth male, finishing ahead of Leo White and James Pearcy, who enjoyed a good battle.

Royal Navy’s Oliver Yates was first vet, with Donald MacGregory first super vet and Richard House the grand vet winner.

Matthew Landsdown and Libby Harman won the sport categories in the senior race.

Dartmoor Velo’s Orla White and Freddie Day were first under-10s, while Max Standen and Pilgrim Flyers’ Molly Lane were under-12 winners and Jess Duffield and Dylan Webb were under-eight victors.
