PLYMOUTH Albion will open their pre-season programme with a trip to former Championship rivals Jersey.

Jersey have announced Albion will travel to St Peter on August 8 to take on the Islanders in an early evening match (5pm).

It will be the first chance to see Albion’s new-look squad in action following their relegation to National One.

Director of rugby Graham Dawe, though, knows it will be a tough test for his side.

“We are delighted to have an opportunity to play a team from last season,” said Dawe. “It will hopefully be a good first run out for the squad, but no doubt it will be a tough day in the sun.”

Jersey chairman Bill Dempsey said: “We enjoyed our encounters with Albion and are pleased to have an early chance to renew acquaintances as the new season gets underway.

“Director of rugby Graham Dawe is looking to develop a very competitive squad for the forthcoming season in National One, and this will be a good test for both clubs.”
