TAVISTOCK’S Charlotte Walker held off the challenge of Jo Meek to retain the Buckland Bounder women’s title on Saturday afternoon.
Walker continued her good form to win the tough hilly race by more than a minute.
She clocked 44.39 minutes, with the experienced Meek taking second in 45.49 minutes.
The pair were well ahead of the next female athlete, which was Suzanne Spooner, who came home in 51.55 minutes.
The men’s race was won by South Molton athlete Michal Lesniak in 40.00 minutes.
Cornish athlete James Oke took second spot in 40.21, with Exmouth’s Anthony Hatchard third in 40.49 and Tavistock’s Thomas Brodgen fourth in 41.03. Plymstock Road Runners’ veteran Graham Bale was sixth.
The race, which is just over six miles, forms parts of the Dartmoor Fell Series and is part of the Buckland Monachorum Fair.
The hilly race takes runners out of the village and on to Roborough Common before dropping down to the River Walkham at Lower Grenofen and heading back to Buckland Monachorum.
