TAVISTOCK Run Project’s Jim Cole produced a dominant display to win the Burrator 10k on Saturday evening.
Cole clocked 32:57.9, which was his quickest time since 2019 and was faster than previous winners of the race that takes athletes around Burrator Reservoir on Dartmoor.
Runners do one full lap and then two-thirds of another and finish at the visitor centre.
Second place went to Tamar Trotters’ Oliver Oldfield, who clocked 34.41.1.
Pearce Hancock took third place in 34.43.5, with M40 athlete Nick Day fourth in 35.06.0 and fellow M40 competitor Jonas Gummesson from Newquay Road Runners fifth in 35.38.4.
Chepstow Harriers’ F50 athlete Niki Morgan was first woman home in 40:13.1, with Bodmin Dragons’ F40 runner Pippa Riches second in 41.16.5 and fellow F40 competitor Jenny James third in 43.04.08. Holberton Harriers’ Ella Thurston was fourth woman (45.13.5) and Debbie Bindon was fifth (46.08.1).
Runners were treated to all kinds of weather during the race with heavy showers in between sunshine.

Meanwhile, Ceri Rees and Charlotte Walker continued their good fell running form by taking victories in the Summer Solstice run at Merrivale.
The pair had taken the titles at the Burrator Horseshoe Race just days earlier.
Rees was pushed hard at Merrivale by Erme Valley Harriers under-23 runner Joseph Battershill, but was he able to hold off the challenge. Rees clocked 37:48.8, with Battershil coming home in 37.57.9. Third place went to Sam Deller in 38:16.3.
Tavistock AC teenager Walker was dominant in the women’s race, winning by nearly three minutes.
She clocked 46.10.0, with Tavistock Run Project’s Rachael Malthouse second in 49.06.0 and Run Venture’s F60 runner Jenny Nash third in 51.43.6.
