SAM DAVEY scored five goals as Plymstock United claimed a 6-0 home win over Bere Alston to move up to fifth in the Devon League South-West Division.

Davey has now netted 10 times so far this season for Plymstock, who have enjoyed a good start to October with 11 goals in their last two games.

Yet the first half on Saturday was quite even with Bere Alston, who have just one win to their name so far this term, having plenty of possession early on. However, two goals in the final 10 minutes of the half by Davey set the hosts on their way to a comfortable win.

The experienced striker bagged his hat-trick 16 minutes into the second half after getting free down the right.

The best worked goal of the game came in the 69th minute when Mike Burke finished off a fine team move to make it 4-0.

But there was still time for Davey to net two more – one from a corner and one where he dummied the goalkeeper to fire into an empty net.
