PLYMOUTH snowboarder Ben Moore has been confirmed in Great Britain’s squad for the 2018 Winter Paralympics in PyeongChang.
Moore will be one of nine alpine skiers or snowboarders in the GB team in South Korea.
It will be the first time ParalympicsGB have sent snowboarders to a Winter Games. The sport was only added to the programme in 2014.
Moore, who won a bronze medal at last year’s World Championship, will compete in the classification for athletes with upper-limb impairments.
Since taking up the sport nearly eight years ago after a motorcycling accident, Moore has won medals at the last two IPC World Championships and at World Cup events.
At Friday’s team announcement, Penny Briscoe OBE, Chef de Mission for ParalympicsGB, said: “It is very exciting to start the year by announcing the first athletes who will represent ParalympicsGB at PyeongChang 2018.
“Sochi 2014 was an historic Games for us, but the incredible performances of these athletes throughout this cycle shows that there is so much to look forward to when the Games begin in March, including the addition of snowboard as a new sport.”
The PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games take place from March 9-18, 2018.
