City of Plymouth hoping for a bumper turnout for their opening track and field meeting

CITY of Plymouth Athletic Club are hoping for a good turnout for their opening track and field meeting of the season at Brickfields on Sunday.

The annual Spring Warm-up competition has proved popular in recent years.

Victoria Weir, Poppy Tank, Jade Simson, Patrick Swan and Doaa Shayea were just a few of the promising up-and-coming athletes who took part in last year’s event.

The meet is open to all ages, sexes and abilities from under-eights (panthers) to veterans. Wheelchair and ambulant athletes are also welcome.

There is a full programme for all ages groups, with under-11 to under-17 athletes permitted to compete in a maximum of three events and under-20 and seniors five.

The meet gets underway at 11am with the 300m under-17 hurdles and under-17, under-20 and senior high jump. The final event will be at 4.15pm.
