Nielsen top scores for Devils in their defeat at Glasgow

Devils arenaIN-FORM reserve Stefan Nielsen made a welcome return to the Plymouth Devils side in their Premier League match at Glasgow on Sunday.

He had a busy time with seven rides and top scored with 11 points, including a couple of race wins, but could not prevent the Devils from slumping to a 57-35 defeat.

Nielsen missed Plymouth’s 55-37 defeat at Workington on Saturday evening because he was riding for Swindon in their 46-44 Elite League win at Leicester.

The Devils were again forced to use couple of guests to replace Australian stars Brady Kurtz and Jack Holder, who were on international duty.

Somerset’s Josh Grajczonek weighed in with 10 points, but Kevin Doolan, from Berwick, managed only five.

As at Workington the previous evening, Plymouth began promisingly and were only four points down after seven heats. But Glasgow finished strongly with four maximum 5-1 heat wins in the final seven races.

Ben Barker, in his final meeting for Glasgow before moving to Ipswich and a day after riding for the Devils, was on top form with 13 (paid 14) points from his five rides, being beaten only by Grajczonek in the opening race.

Glasgow: Richard Lawson 6+1 (4 rides), Ben Barker 13+1 (5), Richie Worrall 10 (4), Nike Lunna 5+1 (4), Aaron Summers 13+1 (5). Reserves: Fernando Garcia 3+3 (4), Danny Ayres 7+2 (4).

Plymouth: Josh Grajczonek 10 (4), Kyle Newman 6+2 (5), Kevin Doolan 5 (4), Todd Kurtz 1 (4), Sam Simota 2 (3). Reserves: Stefan Nielsen 11 (7), Ellis Perks 0 (3).
