PLYMOUTH Albion’s players have been pushing their bodies to the limit ahead of their opening pre-season match against Jersey this weekend.
The words ‘hard’ and ‘tough’ have been used by many of the squad to describe the last five weeks of training.
But director of rugby Graham Dawe said: “I’m sure the guys think they have been working hard for the last four or five weeks, but I’m sure every other rugby team thinks the same.”
Dawe, though, is hoping the team’s fitness and set-piece game ‘will stand up to scrutiny’ this weekend at St Peter. However, he knows it might take a bit more time for his new-look squad to gel and get used to playing systems.
Dawe has had to totally rebuild Albion following the club’s relegation and financial problems of last season.
And that rebuilding job has not finished yet with the Plymouth boss still looking to add to his 22 confirmed signings before their opening league match against Richmond at Brickfields on September 5.
