PLYMOUTH Leander claimed seven medals on the opening day of the ASA National Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
Mount Kelly were also on the podium, with Kaylee Dekker (pictured) winning silver in the 12/13-year-old girls’ 50m butterfly.
Leander won four individual medals and three in relay events.
Their men’s 17 and over team of John Slater, Daniel Jones, Declan Dahill-Rowan and Reece Dunn claimed gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay, while there were silver medals for Rosemary Whittaker and Dunn.
Whittaker’s came in the 15-year-old girls’ 200m freestyle in a time of 2:08.92, while Dunn took second in the 18 and over 100m butterfly in 54.95 seconds.
Meanwhile, Emily Corry won a bronze in the 18 and over 200m freestyle in a time of 2:05.06 and Freddy Clampett took third in the 16/17-year-old boys’ 100m butterfly in 56.99.
There were also bronze medals for Leander’s 14/16 4×100 freestyle relay team, which included Oscar Brain, who enjoyed plenty of success last week at the British Summer Swimming Championships in the same pool, and the girls relay in the same event.
