Plymouth Albion set to announce third pre-season match

PLYMOUTH Albion hope to confirm a third pre-season match this week.

So far Graham Dawe’s side have arranged warm-up games against Championship clubs Jersey and Bedford.

They will travel to Jersey on August 8 before entertaining Bedford on August 22.

Albion, who reported back for pre-season training today, are looking for a match the weekend after the Bedford fixture – one week before the National One season starts – and against different standard opposition.

Director of rugby Dawe has said the club are ‘close’ to confirming a suitable fixture.

Meanwhile, Dawe has revealed he is ‘making decisions as we speak’ about the make-up of his coaching staff for next term.

He also hopes to sign two or three more players within the next few days. That will take his squad to 17 or 18. Dawe is having to rebuild the team from scratch, with only five of the squad that finished last season confirmed as staying following the club’s relegation. Some 22 contracted players from the 2014/15 campaign have definitely left.
