Tavistock’s Brown smashes her PB to win a medal on her international debut

TAVISTOCK AC hammer thrower Tegan Brown smashed her personal best as she won a silver medal on her international debut for England on Saturday.

Under-17 athlete Brown threw an impressive 57.49m to make the podium at the SIAB International in Derby.

The Tavistock College pupil was only beaten by UK number one Sophie Robertson of Scotland, who threw 59.14m.

Brown earned her selection for the international after winning the English Schools’ intermediate title last weekend in Birmingham.

Ahead of this weekend, her previous PB was 55.53m, which she set last month on her way to setting a new Devon Schools’ Championships record in the intermediate girls’ age group.

Her throw in Derby has moved her up from 33rd on the all-time UK under-17 list to 21st. She is currently second in this year’s rankings behind Robertson.
