PLYMOUTH Diving’s Euan McCabe has been rewarded for his British title win last weekend by earning selection for the Great Britain team to compete at this summer’s World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.
McCabe is one of 14 pool divers named in the team for the competition, which will take place between July 26 and August 3 at the Singapore Sports Hub Aquatic Centre.
He joins the likes of Olympic medallist Jack Laugher, Andrea Spendolini Sirieix, Anthony Harding, Yasmin Mew Jensen, Yasmin Harper and Lois Toulson in the squad.
McCabe claimed his first-ever senior individual platform British title on Sunday, scoring 439.70 points to take the 10m platform crown ahead of Robbie Lee.
Aquatics GB programme lead for diving Matt Ashman said: “The team we’ve selected for this summer’s world championships blends an abundance of senior international experience together with some exciting emerging talent, which I am looking forward to seeing perform on the world stage.
“A post-Olympic year has its challenges as well as opportunities, and as a leadership team we’ve been impressed with the way athletes returning to competition after Paris have navigated this period.
“As always, our focus now turns to ensuring all involved are best prepared for the summer – with Singapore a key fixture to build the team towards achieving continued success over the course of the Olympic cycle, in LA and beyond.”
