CITY of Plymouth’s 13-year-old sprint sensation Annabelle Fasuba broke a championship record to win the South of England indoor under-15 60m title on Saturday.
The English Schools’ 100m champion clocked a stunning 7.58 seconds to take victory at Lee Valley.
That was not only a record and a personal best for her, but it ranks her top of the UK rankings and moves her into the top 10 of all-time for that age group.
Her time would have also won the under-17 final at Lee Valley and puts the City of Plymouth star, whose dad won the world 60m title in 2008, into the UK’s top 15 females so far this year.
Another athlete to impress at the championships was Tavistock’s Joe Wake, who won the bronze medal in the under-17 boys’ 60m.
Wake, competing at his first indoor event, clocked 7.04, 7.06 and 7.08 seconds in the heats, semis and final to make the podium.
The Tavistock athlete also made the final of the 200m event on Sunday, clocking 23.38 seconds in the final, having run 23.45 in the semis and 23.88 in the heats.
