PLYMOUTH Argyle have reached the semi-finals of the FA Women’s National League Cup by beating Watford 1-0 at Home Park on Sunday.
Lulu Jarvis netted the only goal of the cup tie in the 29th minute of the match.
It was the perfect way for the Pilgrims to bounce back after the previous week’s heavy 5-1 home FA Cup loss to Exeter City.
“I think the players were superb from start to finish,” said Argyle manager Ryan Perks afterwards.
“It was important to bounce back after a disappointing result and second-half performance against Exeter. I couldn’t be more pleased for the girls.”
In the South West Women’s League Premier Division, leaders Marine Academy Plymouth had to settle for a 2-2 home draw against fourth-placed Sherborne Town at Manadon.
Abbie Woodward and Sam Drewery scored for Marine, with Kaitlyn Elliott and Charlotte Harmer netting for Sherborne.
Despite, having to settle for just one point, Marine stay top of the table as second-placed Forest Green Rovers slipped up against AEK Boco.
In South West Division One South, leaders Plympton extended their unbeaten league start to the season with a convincing 6-2 home victory over Sticker at Saltmill.
Isabelle Firth bagged four of Plympton’s goals, with Izzy Rogers and Dionne Igalawuye also on target.
Plympton are now nine points clear at the top, but they have played four more games than Saltash, who also have a 100 per cent record in third place. The Ashes’ scheduled match away at second-placed Weymouth was postponed on Sunday due to a waterlogged pitch.
In the Devon Women’s League, Horrabridge Rangers stay top after they beat The Victory Pub 2-0 thanks to two strikes from Toni Allen.
Also in that division, Hunters District edged out Tavistock 3-1 at Staddiscombe with goals from Isabelle Ridout (2) and Channon Hodge.
