Tavistock hammer thrower Brown named in England team for Pickering Memorial International

TAVISTOCK’S teenage hammer thrower Tegan Brown has been selected to represent England at the Pickering Memorial International at Loughborough, which will be held at the end of the month.

Brown is one of 23 young athletes selected for the England team, which will compete against athletes from Scotland, Wales, Switzerland and Loughborough.

However, she is one of just four hammer throwers named in the squad for the event on May 31.

England Athletics say the team features athletes aiming for selection to the Under-18 European Championships and Under-20 World Championships later this summer.

Team leader Katie Lambert said: “Congratulations to all of the selected throwers, together with their personal coaches and support teams.

“Selection for this team was extremely competitive, reflecting the strength and depth currently within the England throws pathway.

“Due to some flexibility within the timetable, we were able to increase our initial 16 spaces to 23 athletes.”

English Schools’ champion Brown is ranked in the UK’s top four under-18 hammer throwers this season with an effort of 57.51m.
