Aidan Heslop claims his first Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series title in Australia

PLYMOUTH’S Aidan Heslop has become the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series champion for the first time in his career.

After finishing as runner-up in the series for the past two seasons, Heslop claimed the coveted King Kahekili trophy by overcoming injury to finish fifth at the final stop in Sydney on Sunday.

The 22-year-old becomes the youngest champion of the series and it comes on the back of him winning the World Championships in February.

“It’s been bittersweet the last two years, but to finally take home this trophy is so cool,” said Heslop.

“I had a pretty rough day yesterday, but managed to bring it back today and end with a bang. The whole season has been so good, so consistent for me.”

Romania’s Constantin Popovici finished in third place on the day to secure the runner-up spot on the overall podium.

Rhiannan Iffland claimed the women’s title for the eighth time.
