OLD Techs will be hoping to continue their good form when they host Marjon at Weston Mill on Saturday in the Ellis Trophy.
Techs have a 100 per cent record so far in Counties Three Devon South & West, but they are not sure what to expect from their cup opponents this weekend.
“We don’t know anything about them,” said Techs’ Shaun Bedford-Smith. “They are not a team we play very often, so it should be interesting. I think everyone is looking forward to it.”
Techs, who were Ellis Trophy finalists last year, do have a big league game away at fellow unbeaten side Brixham II the following week.
“Marjons are going to be very young, so they could be a bit like Brixham and so it could be a good test for us.”
He added: “We will have changes from last week. We have a few back and a few missing, but we’ve got 28 players available so it’s shows our strength in depth.
“What was good last week (against Oaks II) is that we had a lot of players missing but no-one who came in looked out of place. Everyone knew our systems because they had been training.
“Everyone is fighting for a position now, which is good.”
The Marjon BUCS side are coached by Devonport Services’ head coach Ben Russell and their Wednesday side does feature players who turn out for other clubs in the area, but those players will not be eligible for the Plymouth Combination Ellis Trophy competition, which is aimed at sides at level nine and below.
Meanwhile, Plymstock Oaks II are also in cup action on Saturday when they travel to Cullompton II in the Devon 2nd XV Cup.
Saltash are due to host struggling Counties Three Cornwall side Roseland in the Cornwall Clubs’ Cup on Saturday, but that match is still to be confirmed.
