GALLERY: Erme Valley Harriers claim victory at Armada Christmas Relays in Central Park

ERME Valley Harriers claimed victory in the Armada Christmas Relays at Central Park on Sunday.

Their senior men’s quartet of Luke Hayes, Charlie Milward, Peter Allen and Matt Gilvear won by more than two minutes.

They clocked 44.52 minutes for the 4×3.3km route around the park.

Matt Gilvear brought Erme Valley home by running the fastest leg on the day, clocking 10.41 minutes.

Team-mate Hayes and fellow junior Isaac Lamerton (City of Plymouth) were joint second quickest with 10.57 minutes, with City of Plymouth veteran Kairn Stone just behind with 10.59.

CTR Plymouth finished as second team overall in 46.56 minutes. Their outfit was made up of Scott Mansfield, Daniel Westlake, Finlay Allen and Derrick Warren.

Third team, and the under-18 boys’ winners, were the City of Plymouth U17 quartet of Jacob Robinson, Ben Marriott, Finley Squires and Lamerton, who clocked 47.53 minutes.

City of Plymouth U18 girls’ team of Molly Gilbey, Martha Wilson, Imogen Rickard and Bella May finished as the first female team overall and first junior girls. They clocked 55.56 minutes, with Torbay girls just one place and 14 seconds behind.

In addition, City of Plymouth also had the first senior women’s team courtesy of Lowenna Riley, Izzy Margetts, Hayley Marriot and Hayley Smith.
Torbay junior Paige Quinn was the fastest female, clocking an impressive 11.45 minutes.

Some 41 teams took part in the event.
