WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Marine Academy suffer first home defeat, but joy for Liskeard and Saltash

MARINE Academy Plymouth dropped down to third in the South West Women’s Premier Division after a 3-0 home defeat by Sherborne Town.

Sherborne’s win has moved them above Marine Academy and into second place behind leaders Bristol Rovers.

Marine just were not clinical as they suffered their first home defeat of the season.

Sherborne’s goals came from Hannah Eglan, Sacha Paynter and Charlotte Harmer.

In the same division, Tiana Campbell scored a hat-trick as Liskeard Athletic triumphed 3-2 at home against Bishops Lydeard.

There was also a home win for Saltash United in the South West Western Division.

They beat Cornish rivals Helston 2-1 thanks to first-half goals from Katie Hengle and Hayley Ranachan.

In the Devon League Premier Division, Plympton lost 1-0 against Bradworthy at Saltmill.

However, despite the defeat, Plympton stay in second place.

In the Devon League South & West Division, Hunters District lost 6-0 away at Paignton.

In the Devon Women’s Senior Cup, Horrabridge Rangers stormed to an 8-0 win over Elm United in their re-arranged tie.

Evelyn Bray netted four of Horrabridge’s goals, with their others coming from Carleigh Boyce (2), Jess Oaten and Heidi Davies also on the scoresheet.

Signal Box handed Fremington a home walkover in the same competition.

In Cornwall Women’s League Division Two, Callington Town were beaten 3-0 at home by FXSU.
