PLYMOUTH’s top young divers impressed as the Life Centre once again hosted the British Elite Junior Diving Championships.
Euan McCabe, Archie Waines, Oliver Heath and Amelie Underwood all won medals at the four-day event.
Great Britain junior international McCabe won two gold medals. He claimed the boys’ A three-metre synchro title by more than 70 points, with his team-mate Waines picking up an impressive silver medal.
McCabe also teamed up with Leeds’ Jake Passmore to win the 14-18 three-metre synchro event, with Plymouth’s Waines and Oliver Heath fifth.
Heath enjoyed a good championships and picked up three individual medals. He claimed silver behind London’s Oscar Kane in both boys’ B one-metre and three-metre events and also won a bronze in the platform competition.
Underwood was also a multi-medallist. She won silver in the girls’ B three-metre event, just missing out on gold by two points, while she also claimed a bronze medal in the one-metre competition.
In the girls’ A category, Katie Martin reached the final and finished fifth in the one-metre event, with team-mate Maia Pearson also qualifying to compete in that discipline.
Martin and Pearson teamed up in the 14-18 years’ three-metre synchro competition and finished fifth, with Underwood seventh with London team-mate Corin Burrow.
The top junior competition was a key selection meeting ahead of this summer’s European Junior Championships.
