THERE might have been a once-in-a-generation eclipse taking place, as well as fireworks and a heatwave, but still more than 80 people turned up at Saltram House on Wednesday night for August’s Armada Summer 5k run.
The off-road event took place right in the middle of the eclipse and so runners had to share the National Trust property with far more people than normal.
First home was Winchester’s Tom Hansen, who finished the run in 19.06 minutes.
Second place went to Sean McTaggart, who clocked 19.21 minutes, with Erme Valley Harriers’ Chris Prall third in 19.31 minutes.
Storm Plymouth’s Lauren Knox was fourth overall and first woman in 19.37 minutes, with City of Plymouth’s Phoebe Timson second in 21.50 minutes and Plymouth Harriers’ Suzie Spooner third woman in 23.37 minutes.
The final run in the Armada Summer 5k Series will take place on Wednesday, September 2, at 7pm.
