GALLERY: Merson storms to victory in popular Magnificent 7 race

EXMOUTH’S Tom Merson was the runaway winner of the Magnificent 7 race at Saltash on Saturday evening.

Merson smashed the course record for the tough course, finishing in 36.51 minutes, which was more than two minutes ahead of any of his rivals.

Second place went to Mile High’s Tony Brewer, who came home in 39.09, with Tavistock’s Chris Rimmer third in 39.28 minutes.

Cornwall AC’s Heidi Tregenza was first women in 43.43, with club team-mate and previous winner and course record holder Emma Stepto second in 45.12 minutes.

Nearly 400 runners completed the course that takes runners from Saltash Rugby Club out on country roads to Elmgate and back around via Forder Lake. The popular event is organised by Tamar Trotters.
