Plymouth Raiders claim Royals win to move up to sixth in the BBL standings

PLYMOUTH Raiders moved up to sixth in the BBL Championship after beating London City Royals 84-77 at the Pavilions on Sunday.

It was Raiders’ fifth home victory out of seven in the BBL this season.

Joonas Jarvelainen top scored for them against London with 24 points. Donte Nicholas chipped in with 19 points and 15 rebounds, while Josh Wilcher bagged 13 points. London’s top scorer was Ashley Hamilton with 16.

Neither side had control in an evenly contested first half on Sunday, but threes from Jarvelainen and Declan Soukup gave the Raiders momentum to take into the final period and they soon led by 12. The Royals battled back to level late on before Wilcher’s triple was decisive in a 7-0 close.

Plymouth hit 10 threes in the win, while the visitors struggled from outside after getting just two of 21.
