Plymouth billiards star Brookshaw impresses for England at Home Internationals

PLYMOUTH’S leading billiards player Steve Brookshaw enjoyed a highly-successful debut for England at the Home Internationals event in Leeds.

Brookshaw helped England A to an impressive victory in the eight-team competition held at the Northern Snooker Centre.

England A were unbeaten at the tournament and only drop one single frame, which came in their final match against the Republic of Ireland, who finished as runners-up.

Brookshaw won five out of five of his frames and came fourth in the overall player rankings with those victories and an average of 243.6 points for and 111.6 against. His highest break at the tournament was 78.

England A enjoyed 3-0 whitewashes over England B, Scotland, Jersey B, Jersey A and Wales before winning 3-1 against Ireland.

Brookshaw was joined in the England A team by current national champion Ryan Mears, five-times English amateur champion Rob Hall and former professional Nalin Patel.

The Plymouth player’s selection came after a good season on the World Billiards circuit.
