PLYMSTOCK Road Runners veteran Graham Bale continued his good form by winning the Muskies Madne5.5 race on Saturday evening.
A week after finishing 20th overall and first over-50 in the Torbay Half Marathon, Bale showed his speed over a shorter distance.
He managed to overcome the challenge of Teignbridge Trotters athletes Tim Pratt, Roger Easterbrook and Garry Smart, who finished second, third and fourth, respectively, in the multi-terrain race, which started and finished at the Kings Tamerton Community Centre.
Bale clocked 33 minutes and 23 seconds, with Pratt second in 33.45, Easterbrook third in 34.53 and Smart fourth in 35.07.
Host club athlete Steve Strachan was fifth in 35.40, with Plymouth Harriers’ David Beckenkrager taking sixth in 36.13.
Plymstock Musketeers, who host the race, had the first women home with Melissa Inness taking the honours in 39.10.
City of Plymouth’s Paula Simson was second and first over-40 in 40.02, with Erme Valley Harriers’ Sarah Hirons third in 40.44.
More than 200 runners completed the event, which helped raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
