RUNNERS from around the country braved horrendous conditions and some of the toughest hills that Devon has to offer on Saturday as part of the Dartmoor Discovery race.
The 32-mile event, which starts and finishes at Princetown, is known as the UK’s longest single lap road ultra marathon.
The undulating course sees athletes leave Princetown and head through Dartmeet, Poundsgate, Newbridge, Ashburton, Buckland-in-the-Moor, Widecombe-in-the-Moor and Postbridge before heading back to the start.
If running 32 miles over Dartmoor and having to make strict cut-off times was not tough enough, once again weather conditions made it particularly difficult.
Runners had to battle a yellow weather warning with strong winds and torrential rain.
Full results and round-up to follow.
