PLYMOUTH cousins Matthew Dixon and Shanice Lobb will form part of Great Britain’s 13-strong diving squad that will take part in the FINA World Junior Championships in Russia.
The event takes place in Kazan between November 28 and December 4.
Plymouth Diving’s Dixon will compete in the boys’ A platform event, alongside Matty Lee.
Lobb, who has recently relocated to London, will take part in the girls’ A platform competition, alongside Olympian Lois Toulson.
Lobb has just returned from the Irish Open where she took fifth in the women’s platform final.
The World Junior Championship, which are held every two years, normally take place in September or October but are taking place later this year.
British team leader Julian Bellan said: “The lateness of the event in November/ December is very new for our team. To help with preparation the British team has already had a pre-camp in Leeds.
“The signs are promising from our competition simulations with the divers showing great physical and technical readiness.
“In 2012, Tom Daley battled it out with Chen Aisen, the Rio Olympic champion, so we can expect to see the very best diving and quite possibly future Olympic medallists in action.
“The World Junior Diving championships for diving is a biannual event that brings together the very best divers of 18 years and under. By its very nature the event will see not only emerging talent but also established divers who have already experienced senior international competitions.”
