PLYMOUTH Devils face two matches in 24 hours with a Premier League visit to Edinburgh on Friday evening and the return at the St Boniface Arena on Saturday evening (7.15pm).
They will be without reserve Stefan Nielsen at Edinburgh because he will be riding for Swindon in an Elite League match at Lakeside on Friday evening and Newcastle’s Victor Palovaara comes in as a guest replacement.
Nielsen returns to the side on Saturday but the Devils will be without Australian Jack Holder, who is competing in the World under-21 final at King’s Lynn, and use rider replacement to cover his absence.
Plymouth were third in the table after winning 56-37 over Workington in their last home match but have now slipped into the bottom four following a couple of away defeats at Workington and Glasgow.
Devils team manager Lee Trigger said: “We need to start picking up points again. Including the Edinburgh fixtures, we have five league matches between now and the end of the month.
“We have our re-arranged match at Peterborough on Tuesday evening. Then we are at home to Ipswich on Friday June 24 followed on Saturday evening with a trip to Rye House, where we have had a good record in the past.”
Edinburgh will be without Erik Riss and Max Clegg on Saturday because both riders will be at King’s Lynn for the under-21 final.
Former Plymouth rider Michael Palm Toft will guest for the Monarchs in place of Riss, while Edinburgh have still to name a replacement for Clegg.
