DAVID GABBITASS has been appointed Plymouth Albion’s president for a second time.
Gabbitass, whose son, Charlie, and grandson, Freddie, have both played for Albion, was previously president of the club between 1986 and 1991
He said: “I see my role as acting as mentor to the new board as they work to get Plymouth Albion back onto its feet.
“There has to be a period of consolidation at Brickfields before the club can once again start to become aspirational.
“Albion have had well-documented financial problems in recent years and it is vital that the new club structure sees them operating within budget.”
Gabbitass, who is vice-chairman of Somerset Cricket Club, added: “I will be working on re-establishing links with the membership of the club as well as links with the local community.
“I am honoured to be asked to be the club’s president.”
