Plymouth Argyle told to rise to play-off occasion

IMG_1764MANAGER John Sheridan hopes his Plymouth Argyle team will rise to the occasion on Saturday when they entertain Wycombe Wanderers in the first leg of the League Two play-off semi-finals (7.45pm).

Argyle are expecting their biggest crowd for years for the clash, which will also be shown live on Sky Sports.

It will be the third time this season the Pilgrims have played in front of the TV cameras and they won the previous two games.

Sheridan wants his team to make it a hat-trick and he is confident the pressure of the match will not get to his players.

“The more pressure, the better, for me,” said Sheridan.

“We are going to have a full house and the atmosphere will be brilliant. It’s great if you are a player to play in these sorts of games.

“We have done well in front of a big crowd this season and when we have been on the television.”

Argyle will be placing green and white sheets on 10,500 seats on Saturday so that the players can come out to a wall of the club colours.

Striker Reuben Reid, who sat out last weekend’s 2-0 win at Shrewsbury Town, will be back in the squad for Saturday’s match.

The second leg of the semi-final will take place on Thursday, May 14 (7.45pm). Argyle have sold all their allocation of tickets for that away match.
