AFTER two consecutive second place finishes, Plymouth Musketeers’ Scott Mansfield finally came home first in July’s Armada Summer 5k Series run at Saltram House.
Mansfield, who had been runner-up in June and May’s runs, finished 20 seconds ahead of second-placed Ben Austin on Wednesday evening.
He clocked a time of 17 minutes and 24 seconds, with Austin finishing in 17.44.
David Friskin made sure there were two Plymouth Musketeers in the top three by holding off the challenge of Phil Casey by three seconds to take third in 18.24. Plymouth Harriers’ James Wickett was fifth, just ahead of Plymstock Road Runners’ veteran Graham Bale.
Ruby Gibbons was first woman home in 23.52 minutes, with Annie Wisely second, Tamar Trotters’ Sallie Brennan third, Plymouth Musketeers’ Maggie Lamerton fourth and Hayley Hoskin fifth.
