City of Plymouth’s Evans-Shields smashes her personal best while on duty for England

CITY of Plymouth’s star discus thrower Nubia Evans-Shields smashed her personal best while on duty for England on Monday at the Pickering Memorial Throws Invitational at Loughborough University.

Three-times English Schools’ champion Evans-Shields, who is in her first year at under-20 level, threw 47.87m, which beat her previous PB by more than two-and-a-half metres and moved her back to the top of the UK rankings.

She finished fourth overall in the women’s event and was second under-20 behind Switzerland’s Giada Borin.

England were up against teams from Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Switzerland, Italy, Lisbon and Loughborough University.

It was her second international appearance in the space of a week, having made her Great Britain under-20 debut at the Loughborough International the week before.
