GALLERY: Tavistock AC’s Lake claims women’s title in Plymouth 10k

TAVISTOCK AC’s Sam Lake claimed victory in the women’s race at the Plymouth 10k on Sunday.

Lake, who had won medals at last weekend’s British Masters Swimming Championships, claimed the title with a gun-time run of 41.06 minutes.

Second woman home on Sunday was DSFRS runner Kirsty Prowse, who clocked 42.46 minutes.

Louise Shaw was third and first F40 (44.25), with Plymouth Harriers’ Suzanne Spooner fourth (44.34) and Zoe Chapman fifth (45.09).

Newquay Road Runners’ veteran Clive Ramsden won the men’s race in the 10k, finishing in a gun time of 36.12 minutes.

Second place went to Mile High’s Tom Howell (37.03), with City of Plymouth youngster Jacob Robinson third (37.06), Ben Oman fourth and second M45 (37.35) and Harry Gorfoth fifth (38.06).

Erme Valley Harriers’ Andrea Mitchell was first F55, while Tavistock AC’s Valerie Evans claimed the F70 title and Storm Plymouth’s Gill Tucker the F75 crown.

East Cornwall Harriers’ Ben Harding was first M40, while Erme Valley’s Nick Bristow was first M50.

Some 472 runners completed the 10k race, which featured as part of the Plymouth festival of running on the Hoe.
