GALLERY: Landers retains Plymouth Half Marathon title as Tamar Trotters dominate

TAMAR Trotters dominated the men’s race at the Plymouth Half Marathon on Sunday.

The South East Cornwall club had three finishers within the top four and five inside the top 10.

Jacob Landers retained the title he won last year, coming home in a gun time of 1:09.17.

Team-mate Mike Wilsmore, better known for his track running, came second in 1:11.51.

Thomas Wraight took third place and first M40 in 1:15.23, with Tamar Trotters’ Oliver Oldfield fourth (1:15.40) and Shane McNerney fifth (1:16.14).

Tavistock Run Project’s Alex Peyton-Jones came ninth and second M40, while Tamar Trotters Luke Attwood was just behind in 10th.

Plymouth Harriers’ Steve Hill was first M50, while Plymstock Road Runners’ Graham Bale was first M55, with Stuart Hall second.

The women’s race was won by Les Croupiers’ Louise Flynn in a gun time of 1:21.12, with Hannah Smith second in 1:25.16 and University of Plymouth’s Ellie Robinson third 1:25.25.

Cornwall athlete Ruby Orchard took fourth, with Storm Plymouth’s Lauren Knox and Charlene Matthews fifth and sixth respectively.

Erme Valley Harriers’ Kate Medlicott claimed the F55 top prize, while Tamar Trotters’ Mandy Warnett was first F60 and Erme Valley’s Jacqueline Frewin first F65.

Some 2,913 runners finished the 13.1-mile event that started and finished on the Hoe and took athletes out to Elburton and into Saltram Park.
