PLYMOUTH Argyle have been handed a home tie against Nottingham Forest in the fourth round of the Women’s FA Cup.
The Pilgrims booked their place in last 32 by beating Oxford United in a dramatic penalty shoot-out on Sunday at Coach Road.
Argyle won the shoot-out, which saw just one player miss, 5-3 after the game ended 2-2 at the end of extra-time.
Lacy-Jai Liggett had put Oxford ahead in first-half injury-time.
The Pilgrims produced a strong second half but needed a last-gasp injury-time equaliser from substitute Fern Orchard to take the tie into extra-time.
A Zoe Barratt penalty put Oxford ahead again in the extra period, but two minutes later Imogen Crawford scored from 20-yards to level again.
In the penalty shoot-out, Jemma Rose, Mai Endacott, Jade Berrow, Taya Pomfret and Charlotte Whitmore all scored their spot-kicks for the Pilgrims.
The only player to miss for Oxford was former Argyle player Leah Burridge.
Argyle’s tie with Nottingham Forest is due to be played on January 14.
In the South West Women’s League Premier Division, Marine Academy Plymouth dug deep to earn a 1-1 draw away at Forest Green Rovers.
Jana Richards netted Marine Academy’s goal that keeps them in third spot, one place above Forest Green.
In the Devon Women’s League Premier Division, Sam Metters scored a hat-trick as Plympton beat Teignmouth 6-1 at Tor Bridge High.
Dionne Igalawuye also bagged two, with Melissa Yabsley also on the scoresheet as Plymouth stay in second place.
In the Cornwall Women’s League Division One, Saltash Borough were beaten 7-3 by leaders St Agnes.
