City of Plymouth youngsters make impressive starts to their indoor seasons

CITY of Plymouth juniors Nicolas Maczugowski, Leonie Dyer and Adam Dingley all made successful starts to their indoor seasons at the weekend.

Maczugowski and Dyer both won South West Indoor Championships titles in Cardiff, while Dingley impressed with a personal best at the Lee Valley December Open.

Maczugowski claimed both the under-17 boys’ 200m and 400m South West gold medals in Wales. He clocked 23.31 seconds for the 200m and 53.87 for the 400m at the first meeting of the three-round championships, which are incorporated within Welsh Junior Open competitions.

Dyer secured the under-15 girls’ regional indoor 300m crown with a 45.85 second run. She also leaped 4.24m in the long jump.

There were no hurdles events in Cardiff at the weekend – they will be held at the January meeting – so Dingley travelled to Lee Valley for an indoor outing.

He had two under-17 races over the 60m hurdles. In the first he clocked 8.56 seconds before running a new PB of 8.51 on his way to winning his heat in the second round.
