GALLERY: Landers and Ezra enjoy comfortable wins at Saltash Half Marathon

JACOB LANDERS and Bex Ezra made sure Tamar Trotters had the winning athletes as the Saltash Half Marathon returned on Sunday.

The event had not been held since 2019 due to the Covid pandemic, but it returned in style at the weekend.

The race was moved to start and finish in Longstone Park, where the town was holding their May Fair.

Also, to encourage more runners to get involved, organisers Tamar Trotters also included a 5k race to go alongside the 13.1-mile run and the children’s fun run.

Landers stormed to victory on the tough half marathon course. He won by nearly 10 minutes, claiming victory in 1:16.06

Second place went to Joe Beaton in 1:25.54, with Plymouth Musketeers’ Ross MacDonald third in 1:26.07, East Cornwall Harriers’ David Robinson fourth and first M45 in 1:27.25 and Royal Navy athlete Sean Childs fifth and first M50 in 1:27.45.

Ezra was even more dominant in the women’s race. She triumphed by 18 minutes and finished sixth overall in 1:28.41.

Second place went to Debbie Bindon (1:46.04), with East Cornwall Harriers’ Amanda Hewitt third and first F45 (1:47.00).
