THE Ivybridge 10k was back in bumper fashion on Saturday evening with 548 runners finishing the popular race in hot conditions.
The event, hosted by Erme Valley Harriers, had not been run since 2019 due to the Covid pandemic, but athletes turned out in force for its return.
The race was won in 32.43 minutes by Teignbridge Trotters’ Jamie Barnett, which was just six seconds off his PB.
Jim Cole (Tavistock Run Project), who won the race the last time it was run in 2019 and also in 2013 and 2011, was second and first M40 in 33.18 minutes, with Plymouth Harriers’ Steve Fletcher third in 34.04, Tavistock Run Project’s Edward Smart fourth in 34.50 and East Cornwall Harriers’ Steve Sims fifth in 35.10.
Tavistock Run Project won the men’s team prize with Cole, Smart and Raymond Tew making up their successful side. Plymouth Harriers were second team, with Fletcher, Steve Hill and Andrew Charles their trio.
Erme Valley Harriers’ Simon Fitze was first M45 in 35.38 minutes, with Plymstock Road Runners’ Rich Shelley first M50 and sixth overall in 35.25 and City of Plymouth’s Simon Anderson winning the M55 category in 38.14.
Storm Plymouth’s Lauren Knox was first women home in 42.25 minutes, with East Cornwall Harriers’ F55 veteran Sharon Daw second in 44.28 minutes. Storm’s Summer Bhalsod was third in 44.54.
Tamar Trotters’ Jane Bremner had a good run finishing fifth female overall and first F60 in 45.01.
Storm won the women’s team prize with Cox, Bhalsod and Catherine Brown making up their team. Plymstock were second.
