Raiders suffer shock home defeat to bottom side Worcester

PLYMOUTH Raiders suffered a fourth defeat in six games as they were beaten 91-74 at home by bottom side Worcester Wolves on Sunday.

Wolves’ win at the Pavilions capped their best weekend of the season, having beaten Surrey Scorchers on Friday evening. Up until this weekend they had only won one game.

The defeat was a blow to the Raiders, who are desperate to make the end of season play-offs.

Wolves, under the direction of interim head coach Tony Garbelotto, turned the game on its head in the second quarter, holding the hosts to just nine points in that period. The away side took full advantage, pouring in 27 points of their own to establish an 11-point lead at the break.

Worcester shot the ball with incredible efficiency, hitting 54 per cent of their attempts from the floor and 40 per cent from behind the three point line.

Deshawn Freeman took the headlines thanks to a game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds.

Devontavius Payne and Rashad Hassan were Raiders’ top scorers with 20 points.
