HORRIBLE weather failed to dampen the spirits of the Plymouth rugby community who still turned out in force for the annual Paul Lethbridge Memorial Day.
The event, in honour of Paul Lethbridge who sadly died in 2013, is now in its sixth year and this time around was held at Weston Mill.
Two of Lethbridge’s former clubs, Old Techs and Tamar Saracens, played each other in a match played in four quarters.
The first quarter featured many veteran players, particularly on Techs’ side, and Saracens took a 14-0 lead thanks to tries by Tom Richards and Scott Sheldon.
However, after that the game, played in wind and rain, was a lot more even, but Saracens ended up winning 26-5. Sheldon finished with two tries, while Billy Evans scored Techs’ only touch-down.
Following the game there was an event at the Weston Mill Social Club. St Luke’s Hospice was this year’s chose charity.
