SALTASH claimed honours in their annual festive match with St Boniface Old Boys.

In terrible conditions at Moorlands Lane, the Ashes triumphed 32-21 in the 42nd year of the fixture.

St Boniface did have a few late drop-outs, including Chris Lowrie and Scott Meakin, but still made Cornwall/Devon League leaders Saltash work hard for their win.

The match was refereed by former Premiership official David Rose and among the crowd that braved the heavy rain was former St Boniface teacher Howell Phillips.
