Ivybridge hooker Geraty in the running for national player of the year award

IVYBRIDGE hooker Jay Geraty has been named as a finalist in the 2017 National Rugby Awards.

Geraty is on a shortlist of six for the men’s amateur player of the year – an award won by Plymouth Argaum veteran Nick Hancock last season.

Geraty will be up against West Leeds’ Sam Neave, Tunbridge Wells’ Nick Doherty, Christleton’s Steve Jones, Barnet Elizabethans Oliver Neusten and Old Tiffianians Jaewon Jang.

Plymouth Argaum and Plymstock Albion Oaks are also nominated for awards.

Argaum have made the shortlist for men’s team of the year, while Lucy Hancock is a finalist in the club volunteer of the year category and Calum Mills a nomination for coach of the year.

Oaks are on the shortlist for the facility development team of the year.

The winners of the awards will be announced at a glittering ceremony at Twickenham on August 30.
