ERME Valley Harriers star Will Battershill made an encouraging start to his athletics career in America.
Battershill finished 13th overall and fourth freshman in the annual Harvard-Princeton-Yale Cross Country Meet.
The 18-year-old Great Britain youth international, who has just moved to Harvard to study, was just 31 seconds behind the winner and only 15 seconds behind his team’s top finisher.
Battershill clocked 25 minutes and 30 seconds for the 8km cross country event held at Princeton.
The race was won by Yale’s James Randon, who finished in 24.59.
