Runners ready for two of the most popular events of the year

Six Moor Mile

TWO of the region’s most popular running events take place this weekend.

On Friday evening, Erme Valley Harriers host their annual relays at Ivybridge Rugby Club, while on Sunday, Plymouth Harriers hold their Six Moor Mile race.

The Erme Valley Relays start at 7pm on Friday and organisers are once again expecting more than 100 teams to enter.

Last year, 107 started with 105 finishing. Each team comprises of four athletes each running 2.5 miles.

IMG_8894Torbay Athletic Club and Erme Valley Harriers have both won the men’s and women’s titles for the last two years.

The Six Moor Mile race starts at 10.30pm on Sunday. Nearly 250 runners finished the scenic run on Dartmoor around the Maristow Estate last year.  Tavistock’s Neil Barkell won the men’s title and Maddie Horton the women’s.

The Six Moor Mile race starts and finishes on Dartmoor near the Leg O Mutton car park at Yelverton.
