ERME Valley Harriers’ Alison McEwing retained her Devon County 10,000m Championship title on Wednesday night at Tavistock.

The 28-year-old clocked 38:02.97 for the 25 lap track event, which was just five seconds outside the time she ran to claim victory in 2015.

Tavistock’s Samantha Lake, 37, was second in a new personal best of 39:52.73.

The men’s event was once again dominated by Bideford.

His Bideford team-mate Aaron Richmond took runners-up spot on Wednesday in 32:07.71. He was just one second off the time he ran the previous year when he was third.

Plymouth Harriers’ over-40 athlete John Porter took bronze this time around in 35:02.56, with Royal Navy over-50 runner Tony Dunn fourth (35:23.13) and another Plymouth Harrier John Cooper fifth (35:35.29).
