Collier ruled out of Albion’s match with Blackheath

Dan Collier

DAN COLLIER has been ruled out of Plymouth Albion’s National One match with Blackheath tomorrow.

The experienced second-row has been ill this week and has not recovered in time to travel to London.

It means teenager Jim Massey will make his debut for club in the second-row.

“Dan’s played very well over the last few weeks and will be solely missed,” said director of rugby Graham Dawe. “But we’ve every faith Jim Massey can step up and play in that number four shirt.

“Jim has shown promise every time he has played for the development side.”

Albion have named new signing Sam Matavesi on the bench. Matavesi can play all across the back-row and at hooker.

“Given the non-availability of Dan Collier, then we might lose Nile Dacres to the second-row at some point during the game and if Herbie (Stupple) went down we would want another number eight and Sam can play there as well as flanker.”

Royal Navy flanker Jarrad Hayler was unavailable for the club this week.
